Root Cause - Chapter 1 & 2

As much as Ruby - a magic broom riding delivery boy - has found a good place physically, he's not in a good place mentally, bottling up his emotions and defaulting to worst-case assumptions of how he's affecting those who care about him. Will a misunderstanding and mishandling of magical reagents and a forced round of introspective metaphors help him, hurt him, or both?

This is chapters 1 & 2 of Root Cause. Another two chapters are mostly-written but need heavy editing, and a half-written epilogue is sitting around. No promises for those seeing the light of day, but here's hoping.
